Mimivirus
Mimivirus is a newly described giant virus resembling a small Gram-positive coccus, growing in amoebae isolated from the water of a cooling tower, and a putative human pathogen (pneumonia). Mimivirus is a double stranded DNA, icosahedral, not filterable and not enveloped virus. Mimivirus defines a new class of nucleocytoplasmic large DNA virus(NCLDV). Mimivirus has a singlecircular genome of approximately 800 kb.
