Influenza A effect on plasmacytoid dendritic cells

Analysis of primary plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) exposed to influenza A for 8 hours ex vivo. pDCs are vital to antiviral defense, directing immune responses via secretion of interferon-alpha. Results provide insight into the regulation of the response of pDC to viral pathogens.

Homo sapiens

Expression profiling by array, count, 5 individual, 2 infection sets

Impact of influenza A on human plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) gene expression

(Submitter supplied) Over 2600 genes were differentially expressed in pDCs exposed to influenza A compared with the controls (no virus). Multiple functional group clusters of genes were impacted, including those involving antiviral responses and also metabolism, such as the glycolysis, oxidative phosphorylation, glucose metabolic process, and positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthesis clusters.

Differential Responses of Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells to Influenza and Distinct Viral Pathogens

(Submitter supplied) Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are key components of the innate immune response that are capable of synthesizing and rapidly releasing vast amounts of type I interferons (IFNs), particularly IFN-alpha. Here we investigated whether pDCs, often regarded as a mere source of IFN, discriminate between various functionally discrete stimuli and to what extent this reflects differences in pDC responses other than IFN-alpha release. more...

Gene expression profile comparison of DC subsets

(Submitter supplied) To evaluate gene expression profiles on different dendritic cell subsets isolated from spleens of mice We used whole genome microarrays to identify genes specific to pDCs and not other DC subsets in the absence of disease
